AN ECOSHELL IN THE EYE OF THE STORM…

At 1:00 a.m. on September 25th, 2015, a tornado swept through Sonny Boy Lane on Johns Island.  A newly-finished Insulsteel Ecoshell home sustained ZERO structural damage, while all the homes around it were either badly damaged or completely destroyed. This Ecoshell steel and EPS insulated panel home was built to withstand winds up to 200 mph.  While adjacent homes lost roofs and exterior walls to the tornado, the damage to the Insulsteel Ecoshell home consisted of some cement plank siding that had been battered by a storm-ripped forest of trees behind the house, some damage to a rear outside wooden staircase, and a few hurricane-rated windows that received cracks to the exterior panes.  There was no wind or water intrusion into the Insulsteel Ecoshell house from the storm, and the structure remained completely intact…
